What was DrDisrespect’s scandal? In 2020, DrDisrespect was banned from the Twitch platform for no apparent reason. And forever. The fact that DrDisrespect was one of the biggest streamers on the platform continued to puzzle the community over the years.
The reason only came to light in 2024: in 2017, the streamer allegedly exchanged inappropriate messages with an underage person via the Twitch Whisper function. Numerous consequences followed for DrDisrespect. He lost monetization on YouTube, his own company ended its collaboration with him, and many fellow streamers distanced themselves from him.
He initially admitted to some of the allegations and, after a break lasting 74 days, returned to live streaming on YouTube. Here, however, he again denied the allegations.

How successful is DrDisrespect anyway? On X, the analysis site Stream Charts posted the top streamers in YouTube Gaming from the USA for 2024. DrDisrespect takes second place in this statistic with a total watch time of 14.08 million hours and a stream time of around 556 hours.
The statistics include the period from January 1, 2024 to September, which also includes the time before the real reasons for DrDisrespect’s ban became known. The issue only became big in June 2024.
While he doesn’t catch up with IShowSpeed’s first place of 24.97 million hours, it proves that he has held up very well despite his scandal. Had he not taken a two-month break, this number would probably be even higher.
Why is the watch time so high despite the scandal? The high watch time does not necessarily mean that every viewer is a fan of Dr Disrespect.
Curiosity about further statements also seems to have contributed to the high watch time. The streamer was also able to record high viewer numbers for his comeback stream .
Over time, there may also be some jealous viewers who are just waiting for the streamer to say something that has some negative connotations. DrDisrespect’s controversy may have attracted such people.
Furthermore, the high watch time does not mean that DrDisrespect will continue to earn as much money as before. After all, YouTube has turned off monetization on his channel.
